Jason Banks, CPA | Founder & Principal

Jason has spent over 25 years at the intersection of finance, accounting, and technology — from early-stage startups to venture-backed growth companies across Silicon Valley.

He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Jose, where he built the technical accounting foundation that has defined his work ever since. From there, he spent two decades moving through the full finance stack at companies like Symantec, Opsware (acquired by HP), 3PAR (acquired by HP), and Virtana — holding roles from Senior Internal Auditor to Operations Controller to Controller, and owning everything from monthly close to external audits with BDO and Sensiba San Felippo.

Before founding MPK, Jason spent four years as a Principal Consultant at various consulting firms, serving as an embedded finance and accounting partner for a range of venture-backed startups — handling day-to-day accounting, budgeting and planning, close process ownership, and audit management. That experience is the direct foundation for what MPK delivers today.

Jason is a licensed CPA in the State of California and has deep hands-on fluency in the systems founders actually use: NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, Carta, Shopify, Workday, and more. His technical expertise spans ASC 606 revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and purchase accounting — the areas that matter most when you're preparing for a raise, a board meeting, or an audit.
